I've somehow managed to keep my subscription free since it launched. I thought they finally caught on to me last time and said I was no longer eligible (2nd Best Buy code attempt), but a new LG TV got me another 3 months. The trick is not to try if you are currently subscribed. Cancel auto renew, let it expire and then try the next day.
EDIT: you can get a free 3 month code from Best Buy and sit on the code until your current subscription ends. If you try to redeem through a device or app, make sure you aren't already logged into your ATV+ account when you click redeem. It will process the free trial and then ask what account you want to use it on.

I tried to be proactive and turn off auto renewal option via Amazon Subscriptions but it asked why I wanted to cancel. If I pick a reason and proceed, I wonder if it'd simply let the trial run out or end it as of today

Seems to be a limit to how many free trials an account can have. I've used the PS5 and the Best Buy ones before, but the Fire TV one gave me a message saying I wasn't eligible.

I'm already on a free subscription. When I sign into the Apple TV app on my PS5, it says you're already subscribed and doesn't give me 3 months free.

Not sure how amazons subscriptions handle it. But with apple products I've seen that when I'm on trial period and asked to cancel, it will just stop on the same day rather than letting it go until end of trial period. Which is weird. Most products let it go until end of trial.

Wasn't the case for me, I canceled my appletv+ a few days ago but my subscription isn't scheduled to end until November 27.
