I'm just taking it to its logical end. Recreation.gov, Xanterra, and some others started this…I guess we can just blame Covid, though.
Why stop at National Parks? They could charge $100 for entrance to everything, to keep the poor and homeless away.
U mean clouds
The major parks are sooo crowded these days. Something's gotta give.
You really want surge pricing for national parks?

U guys need to open more parks and stop privatizing public land / selling off to foreign interests. Thanks in advance
Nope — planned days where people willing to make an extra donation could help ensure quieter days at those parks. Let's not pretend that "economic rationing" isn't already done across the board — look at prices for the Ahwanee Hotel in Yosemite.
If they did something like that, it would have to be rare and ensure the funds are correctly used, but could be a nice subsidy for the parks to help improve the experience for everyone.
The optics are horrible, though. The marketing would never work.
All disabled people can get the parks pass. Not just vets.
US has nothing for free ...

If your free vs fee for entry theory is correct.....that is why Costco, Sam's Club, etc is so clean and nice and theft is kept to a minimum......hmmmmm.......

Forcing higher entrance fees to weed out the crowd is wrong on many level.
