I double checked with Xfinity representative in the store two different times/days, and I was advised not to do this. swapping existing line into a the new phone will cause you losing the credits there after. I am disappointed now. I relied on these SD comments and decided to do this only to know that these comments are just individual experiences and not 100% true. Not only this, I lost 25% Samsun Black Friday Deal offer on the phone I am looking to buy. Frown
Well that really sucks. I was hoping I could do a sim swap from an XM Iphone 12 to a new XM Iphone 15 I just picked up. Seems pretty risky now with a few folks saying it's a no goFrown

The device credit is tied to the specific device; and that device has to be on any of the lines in your account.

In your case : the device credit is on the iPhone 12 mini - but you're planning to put the line number on an unlocked iPhone 12 (which doesn't have any device credits); and won't have any of your line numbers on the 12 mini (which gets the device credits). IF XM does the auto changeover of the sim / device info - you may lose out on the bill credits.

Instead : wait for a BYOD offer on XM (I haven't seen any of their prepaid card offers for a couple of months now; but hopefully they'll bring it back). Or - if you're already on a By-the-Gig plan : add a new line with the iPhone 12, then swap sims. You may want to keep the other line active until all the device credits are complete.
I have another question for you. I got 2 phones. Both numbers have been ported. Both phones show active online and credit/months showing up. I opened the box of one phone and switched it on (iPhone) and provisioned the esim. I havent opened the box of the other phone and not switched it on yet (of course, havent provisioned the esim either). Question is, if I leave the second phone alone, not open it, not switch it on, not provision the esim, how much would that affect the monthly credit for that particular line? Would Xfinity know that it has not been turned on and/or esim provisioned? Would it risk the monthly credits?

Xfinity's terms for the bill credits (whether the $500 basic credit or the upto $800 enhanced credit for trade in) requires " activation of new Xfinity Mobile line and transfer of phone number from another carrier within 60 days of phone purchase date."

If you don't complete the activation and porting within that period : you forfeit all the credits but are still liable for the full cost of the phone you bought.

Note that the porting is initiated only after activation; and can take a little time depending on the provider, so you need to complete the porting within the 60 day period.XM will know that the line has not been ported; so you would be liable.

If you've changed your mind for any reason - you MAY be able to cancel the service / return the phone; XM does have a "restocking fee" of $35, IDK if you can get that waived. OTOH - if you don't cancel / return; you'd lose all the bill credits for that phone and be liable to pay full price; and you may still need to "activate" the phone to get it unlocked after the payment in full.

Thats the thing. The line has been ported. Prior to porting completion, it was showing inavtive on the xfinity mobile portal. After the porting was completed, I got a notification that porting has been completed by xfinity and my GV number was lost on the GV login...

The credits didnt show up before porting was completed, they now show up. And there is no difference in the portal between the line I turned the phone on and the line I haven't turned on so far...

If I have one of those $830 codes and I add 10 iPhone 15 phones by porting 10 GV #s, pay for the tax, add them all to the $15 ByTheGig plan, I'd end up with 10 phones, free and clear, after 2 years?

I understand there's be a couple $ per phone per month of taxes&fees, but that would work?

What's the catch?

Sounds like a plan to me if I had the code that's what I would do. Or if you don't have the code do what I did and order some iPhone 13s which come to $200 each after tax after 500 Port bonus and you can swap your sim card in it right away since it's the last iPhone that supports physical Sim.

Only catch is 2 years. Also, don't know if XM able to let you finance $8k+. There is a limit to how much you can finance.

I remember someone mentioned there is a $3500 discount limit if you are ordering multiple phones.

I tried online chat with an agent and she went ahead with the swap without even saying anything. I asked her if the device credit would be affected, she said yes :-|. I asked her to double check, and she came back saying it would not be affected ... I guess I'll have to wait until the swap is done to see if it's affected or not. She said the swap was going to take 60-90 minutes. Now a few hours have passed, and I still have not received any notice. Folks who were able to do this in store: how long did it take?
I went to the Xfinity store today to try to swap as I had bad luck with Xfinity Mobile Customer Service person yesterday. The store guy told me they don't do it these SIM swaps and asked me to call Customer Service. So back to square 1. How did yours go? I need to try again. If I can't swap, I will return the new phone - no use.

1 code works for all of them if they are in single order. But there will be credit limit and depends on the account
