I'm assuming you had a reference model that first came out?
There was a fix for most that came out two months ago. The high idle was never a concern for me with when I use my computer, both monitors are doing something and I don't leave them on for no reason.
I went from a 3070 to a 7900xtx though and for the money since I don't care for RT since the 4090 struggles to run it maxed out, I don't regret switching over to amd this generation.
But imo it also depends on what your main games you play are to which gpu you go with. I play cod first and everything else is after so with this gpu meeting or beating the 4090 at that game, it's a no brainer to go this route and spend 40 percent less.

What is the point of paying $700 more for something a $250 card will do equally as well?

200 fps is 200 fps.

Future proof? Righttttttt. Paying 4x more for something to future proof maybe 1 extra year of time lol
Not all of us are still on
Running vga over hdmi. Not hating but a $250 gpu will not push my games at 1440p at the frames I want without using upscaling.

Hmm, I'm thinking the xtx will hit $850 and the xt perhaps $650 for black Friday. Have to decide if the 4080 for probably $100 more than the xtx is worth it.

I think we'll get there between now and Christmas. Extremely confident in that. Hoping though it's before Thanksgiving though..

Not true. The 4080 Super will be releasing soon, likely at the same price as the current 4080.
I think they were referring to next gen.

I'm curious, if Nvidia were to ever discount their GPUs to be more closer to AMD prices, would people still buy AMD cards?

No. Nvidia deserves a price premium. I give them a 10% amount for the extra features at the same raster performance.

If the rumors about a 1Q24 4080 super release date are true I could see xtx dropping even lower than that.

Not too good with computers, eh?
Lmaoooo, enlighten me, what games are you playing, what gpu do you own and at what resolution and fps you're getting?
I'll guess a 1660 super, 720p on a 1080p monitor with dlss on performance.

Might have to pick this up. If I do buy this and it goes on sale for a lower price, microcenter will credit the difference.
