This is a solid price point for any 43" 4K set (there's a FP deal for a Toshiba at the same price at Best Buy) but this is QLED and sold by Costco.

I bought it a few weeks ago and I'm happy with it. Pretty good picture and sound. Works well as a monitor if you put it in game mode. Would recommend.

Been thinking about getting this as a replacement for our old 720p bedroom tv, but can't find any official ratings or tests on this model. Rtings has the q6 model tested but not the q5, and I'm not quite sure what the differences is between the two.

I might be interested in getting one for a monitor. The prior generation of TCL's are supposed to have been decent as monitors. I suppose I could just bring it back to Costco if I were unhappy.

Three year warranty and easy return at Costco makes this lottery better than the Powerball.

This tv model is a special edition BF. Can't find any reviews. I can only imagine it has the cheapest parts and the crappiest panel ever. You as well spend $40 more and get the 55 inch model thats not the bf branded version at BB

I believe it is last years model with the "f" and I dislike fire TV OS. I went with the 55" 2023 "g" with Google TV at Best Buy for not much more.

Does it support chroma 4:4:4?
I found this link but the specs do not list chroma... I'd like to use it as a PC monitor.

Also it says it is Google Tv and FireTv??

F is fire TV. G Google and r Roku. The last letter hasn't got anything to do with the year in this case. For some reason only the f model is available at the moment. No idea if that will ever change but I'd prefer the g if it does become a thing.

The last letter indicates fire TV(f). If they ever sell the Google TV variant that will end with g.

I haven't known a TV that hasn't been able to do 444 for 10 years. I thought that was a thing of the past. for SDR anyway.

I'm also looking for a cheap secondary monitor around this size. I believe this is a va panel and the Toshiba at the same(ish) price is IPS. This is QLED tho so I don't know which would be better for a monitor, but I'm leaning toward the IPS. If someone more knowledgeable wants to chime in I'd appreciate it.

The g variant scores high for monitor usage on rtings.

I'm mostly worried about a VA panel at this size for a monitor. Unless the viewing angles have improved in the past couple years, I can't see using a flat VA 3 ft away.

edit:
at 3ft away the edges of a 43in TV are 31°

per rtings:

Brightness Loss @ 32°

Black Level Raise @ 22°

Gamma Shift @ 18°

I don't know how bad it is at those angles, so maybe it's not bad. but I'd want to see it first or hear from someone who owns one.

I don't own this TV but I can tell you from past experience at 3ft you are not going to have much of an issue compared to viewing up close on a desk. You may see some shift each corner but that's about it. I'd be more concerned about subpixel arrangement and motion blur. Most VA TVs use bgr instead of RGB and they also have poor response times close to black. Spending more is probably a better idea for a larger monitor unless this is going to just be a secondary media display.
