I lice bosch 12v tools, and sanders, but this is the worst tool Bosch has ever made... and they acknowledged it. Lol.
However, this is a horrible sander. Probably the worst power tool Bosch has ever made. I even got them to respond to a funny burn I made about it on Instagram with laughing emoji's.

I also have the 18v sander and don't find them to be tremendously different in capability. If you are letting the sanders and grits do the work, and not bearing down on the tool, they both perform very well. If you bear down on the sander, which is not great form, then the tool automatically adjusts to the increased resistance by dumping more electrons, and you can burn through the batteries FAST. The 18v does have better run time, but even then, it still isn't ideal for large sanding projects.
Here's the thing: I also have 3 corded Festool RO sanders and a Festool vac. Sometimes while working, and not at a major sanding stage, I just need to kiss something with a sander for 2 seconds or 15 seconds and then continue other aspects of finish work or assembly. Pulling out the corded sander, extractor, plugging in everything is a terrible disruption to workflow. I keep the Bosch 12v next to my primary Festool and grab them about equally. I never hook this baby 12v up to dust collection. The internal air movement and collection bag are surprisingly good for quick spot sanding, and the smoothness with which it runs is superb, on par with my Festool sanders with very very little vibration back into my hand.
