Counter-counter-point, I have both. I basically never use the RCN1. The RC is so convenient. Just turn it on and you're ready to go in about 10 seconds with no fiddling. No interruptions while flying. The screen is nice and bright and has great battery endurance.

The only time I use the RCN1 is if I want to cast the screen to a WiFi display for spectators.

Who does remote screen recording? You know there's a camera on the drone, right?

The RC range is perfectly fine. Never understood this argument. I can sit in my living room and fly half a mile away. It honestly feels miraculous. Walk outside if you need to go a mile for whatever reason.

Litchi, dronedeploy, etc; never use em. Sure, if you need that functionally it's a deal-breaker. Most people do not need or want to use a 3rd party app.

Just a counter point, I have the RC and wish I had gotten the RC-N1 (what this deal has.)
>RC range is poor (you can easily mod it for external antenna fix this)
>no side loading Litchi or Dronedeploy or any 3rd party apps
>remote screen recording is low res

I miss the big screen of a tablet. It's less convenient but better. I can easily cast the tablet screen to share also. The RC isn't wrong for everyone but I wish I had waited for the RC-N1.

Thanks for your feedback. I have the RCN1 and is tired of setting it up with my phone every time using my drone. I am waiting for a deal next week on the Mini 4 pro for better video quality.
I was in the same boat. Tired of the set up. The built in screen is a game changer. These batteries are $65 each and the battery charger is around $40. Then the card is about $20. Not a bad deal. Like someone said, you can get the screen controller on ebay.

Deal is good through 12/24. Is there any risk of Costco running out?

I've been flying DJI drones with my iPhone and iPad for years. Problem is I can't see very well in the sun. I don't mind the set up time, but I am always guessing what I'm looking at while flying because I can't get my iPhone 12 or my iPad mini to be bright enough.
May I ask how bright the screen is in the built-in screen controller? Do you have problem seeing the screen on a bright day? I am on the fence on which way to go -- built-in screen or not? I do like the separate screen as I can use Litchi and 3rd party app. I have never had a built-in screen controller to compare to. Anyone with screen built-in controller, please chime in with your experience and knowledge. Thanks in advance.

Actually, counter-counter-counter-point... honestly don't worry about the controller so much. These drones are amazing either way. Since the RC2 came out, you can get the RC for $150 off ebay if you really want it.
Counter-counter-counter-counter-point Applause

If you live in an area where you constantly need permissions to "unlock" to fly such as SoCal, the RC won't work until you tether it to your phone to get the Internet connection for the unlock code, so you'll need your phone anyway. Anyhow, I got the prior deal from Costco and decided I wanted the RC off eBay because it's less of a loss if it falls off my handle bars while cycling vs the controller with my $1k phone attached.

Where are you allowed to fly in So Cal? Any of the denser inner ring suburbs or is it mainly the outskirts?

There are restricted zones scattered around, yet fortunately, I can launch my drone in my neighborhood. However, I must first unlock it and ensure it remains below a specified altitude. There are lots of coastal area fine for flying drones, but it's important to respect state park regulations at the beaches so no taking off, landing, or operating the drone on park property but flying over is fine when done remotely.
