An honest question: why so little interest in this deal? Looks pretty good to me or am I missing something?

Proablly because MSI have been having hinge issues on their cheaper models. I'm still kicking myself for missing the 4070 on sale at best buy for $1099. But I may get this

I bought a katana and treated it with kid gloves- almost always using it as a desktop replacement, rarely moving it. Hinges broke within 6 months. Not just broke but ripped the frame away from the screen. This deal is not nearly good enough to make up for how awful the build quality is.

Wow, that's crazy. Thank you for letting me know. I am having issues with my laptop I bought from Costco about two years ago so might need a replacement.

With the Costco extended warranty, wouldn't they replace the laptop with a new one?

I have a previous gen Katana, 11th gen i7, 3060. No hinge issue whatsoever, and this looks similar or identical. My Stealth from like 2015 had hinges that broke completely but the design on these now is entirely different and they don't attach the same way. Not sure about other models but it seems that they had bad enough hinges for long enough that they've done something about it. I have faith that I won't experience a problem with my Katana.

How does this compare to the acer deal from best buy?

https://slickdeals.net/f/17072875-acer-predator-helios-neo-16-fhd-165hz-i5-13500hx-rtx-4050-140w-16g...
Acer has the better screen but less powerful graphics card and processor. It really depends on what you're gonna be using it for. Don't wanna spend more for something you won't need

Good thing I skipped it when the 4070 version of it was sitting in my cart for a few days and was $1100. Was wondering why it had so little attention as well so skipped just for that.

Also in the fence on getting a new laptop where the graphics card is only 8GB since I don't plan to get another one in quite a while and budget is only around $1k.

I don't understand why MSI haven't fixed their hinge issues. I bought one of their first laptops with Nvidia Optimus about 12 years ago. Worked great, barely an inch thick. A year after using it, hinge broke. They fixed it within the manufacturer warranty. Then it broke again. I've never bought an MSI laptop since. The people I know who have bought one experience the same issue on their models. It's disappointing to hear they haven't fixed it.
