I recently pulled the trigger on an Asus Zenbook / Creator Q530 and while it has weaker GPU (3050 6GB) and slower Hz screen... it is way more portable and more vivid and accurate screen for same price. Also has Thunderbolt 4 so gives the option of eGPU down the road for some future proofing (hopefully eGPU cases come down even more)

You can still order it, even if it is sold out at local BJ's.

The TB4 port here is very attractive to me. This display also seems like it might be slightly superior, due to higher brightness (but the Asus display is solid nonetheless).
The Asus is returnable through January. Thoughts? The Intel CPU has better multi-threaded performance due to e-cores, but overall they're pretty close, so basically it comes down to the 8GB 7600S vs. the 6GB 4050. Gaming is a secondary concern for me, I'm willing to lose a few FPS.
Other considerations: I don't care about the RGB backlit keyboard, I will just set it to one static color, but the Asus is approx. 1 pound lighter. I'm also not a big fan of the Armory Crate software, but overall the Asus seems to have solid build quality. I've never owned an Acer laptop.

Dont care much about GPU really.
How does this i5 compare to that i7?
Am I getting that much more performance from the i7 to justify the extra $250?

Some additional thoughts: the i7 machine has a better display, 500-nits brightness and QHD, vs. 400-nits and FHD. The i7 machine also has a 1TB SSD. I know you don't care about the GPU, but the 4060 will also make the laptop more desirable when you go to resell in a few years.
Overall I'd say it's worth the extra money, but if you're on a tight budget, the i5 machine isn't a slouch by any means.
