Compared to the Tuf A16 for $750: https://slickdeals.net/f/17023603-asus-tuf-gaming-a16-16-fhd-165hz-ryzen-7-7735hs-rx-7600s-8gb-16gb-ddr5-512gb-ssd-749-99?v=1
This laptop has a faster CPU but poor battery life compared to the Tuf. The HX processors are rebranded desktop models so lack some power saving features. The display is a little bit nicer (400 vs 300 nit), but they are both good displays, with good color gamut and response. 4050 vs 7600s is pretty much a toss up for gaming.

The 4050, 4060, and 4070 are all voltage limited.... and top out in the 90-105W range even though 140W is allowed.
Ordinarily a laptop GPU is power limited, so top performance is achieved by both undervolting and overclocking, but there is no reason to UV with these. I got >10% boost by UV and OC on my 2060 laptop.
Don't forget to OC the vram to the max!

Curious how this stacks up against the Acer Nitro with RTX 3070 TI that was posted for $765 a few weeks ago: https://slickdeals.net/f/16985566-acer-nitro-5-laptop-15-6-qhd-165hz-ryzen-7-6800h-16gb-ram-rtx-3070-ti-1tb-ssd-refurbished-764-99-free-shipping-acer-via-ebay?v=1&src=Si
3070 TI has a little (edit: decently [notebookcheck.net]) higher benchmarks than the 4050, but i5-13500HX scores a little higher than the Ryzen 7 6800H. Would prefer a slightly smaller screen, so probably waiting to see what else Black Friday brings, but I like these Acer deals popping up.
For those with a laptop without an optical drive. Do you miss them? Mine has a bluray burner. I guess buying an external one is cheap enough now.
Having gone to a thin and light Lenovo (and yeah, it cost more) under 3 pounds it's hard to imagine I would want to go back to a big boy.
No touch screen would be an instant nope for the wifey.
Oh it also looks like it takes a barrel plug + brick power supply.... that is a shame. Everything should be USB-C power by this point. But gets points for expandable ram and a real ethernet port, those are getting rare on laptops. MicroSD slot and an actual headphone jack are also welcome additions.
