Info from the Steam store:
The same game you played in 1998 - restored, augmented, and revitalized
We created a new webpage to showcase all the updates in detail, but here's a quick rundown of the updates to the base game:
• Updated graphics settings, including lighting fixes and an actual widescreen field of view
• Controller and Steam Networking support
• Steam Deck support - officially Verified!
Also including lots of cool new (or restored) content!
The 25th Anniversary Update includes added content from Half-Life Uplink as well as four (4!) new multiplayer maps. We've also restored some content for the true nostalgia-seekers, including original main menu artwork and some early prototype player models from the alpha builds of the game.
And a short film to mark the occasion
Edit: Black Mesa is a fan remake of Half-Life that released a free version in 2012 and a few years ago a more complete commercial version was released that includes the final level. It's hard to find the download links for the free version nowadays but here's one place (the part 1 and 2 zip files): https://www.moddb.com/mods/black-mesa/downloads

Yes, but it's going to have some mechanics that are very dated. I played it for the first time in 2008 (roughly 10 years after release) and enjoyed it. The unfortunate thing with HL1 is that it does start really slow (literally starts with a 10 minute train ride), so you'll have to give it an hour or so to decide if you really like it or not.
