The 4TB X8 is a much better buy at $159 (10 more) for a drive rated at near double the speed in tests:

Fakespot ratings are for the reviews on product listings, not the products themselves.

You are better off putting the price of a second drive toward disaster recovery solutions like Backblaze or Carbonite. If you experience a flood or fire it's just a collection of duplicate dead drives. Plus, maintaining perfect mirrored redundant drives at home can be tedious depending on your setup.

That speed will drop drastically with large file transfers. If that's not an issue, then cool.
Why on earth would I get TD for saying this? Yikes.

The X9 Pro, which I bought, is $32 more, significantly faster, smaller, and has two more *years* of warranty.

So... yeah. X9 Pro.

QLC and becomes unrecognized over time.
Where are you seeing that this drive contains QLC flash memory? I looked all over the item's product description and was unable find that denotation.

I heard people saying X8 is QLC and assumed X6 can not be better.

I have X8. It is slow as shit.

Just received, but will return. It's slower than my external HD. From reviews, my expectation was low... but I got less than 10MB/s transfer speed. (I have lots of small files) It could be bad setup, or perhaps a lemon, but not worth the time to troubleshoot.

This seems like solid advice. You'd be without data while you get the new drive and re-download the data from one of those services, but seems wiser overall

Oops just realized this is an old thread.
