Copy pasting my comment from the previous thread on this laptop:

This would be mainly appreciated by Gaming enthusiasts and is mainly aimed at streamers.
Some things to note:
  1. Despite Best Buy and Corsair stating the brightness to be 600+ nits, reviews show it's only a bit over 500 nits
  2. This is Corsair's first ever attempt at a gaming laptop and they've done a bang-up job (according to reviews linked below).
  3. The RX 6800M sits somewhere between the 3070 and 3080
  4. Despite being an AMD config. it does have Thunderbolt 3 support
  5. Despite not being as thin and light as the ASUS G series, it's still quite light for its' size and components
  6. It has a wireless receiver in-built to the motherboard which can connect to Corsair products (such as a wireless mouse) without the need to plug in a USB transmitter/dongle

This is really on par with a mobile 4070, without frame gen.
So compare this to other 4070 laptops available at $1k. It's the other features you want to look at - the mechanical keyboard, all-metal build, screen quality and brightness, etc.

I would personally love a laptop with a 6800M - but this one has some big issues.
check users reviews, soo many mentioned issues with Drivers and software.

About the RX 6800M in between the 3070 and 3080, would that be the laptop version of those Nvidia GPUs?

Can anyone convince why this is a good deal? Yes, you get a 16 inch screen and 1TB SSD, but isn't the GPU outdated by now? (It came out almost 3 years ago.)

We know mobile GPUS are a scam by now, and this card is more or less equivalent (more less) to a desktop version of the 2080 series: https://technical.city/en/video/G...00M#gaming

Isn't the RTX 4070 the obvious choice at this price point? And yes, I am aware the 6800 has 12GB VRAM, but that doesn't necessarily help him against the RTX 4070: https://technical.city/en/video/R...ile#gaming

The reviews I'm seeing from customers from various sites on this model is not too promising. Looks like a lot of people complain about it overheating and driver issues. And some people complain it stopped working altogether.

If only that screen chin/space between the chassi was significantly smaller, I would bite the bullet. That whole space makes the laptop look pretty outdated and unnecessarily big.

Does AMD have any kind of competitor to DLSS? I'm kind of familiar with FSR as far as squeezing out more frames but I was REALLY impressed with DLSS 4.0 and how much of a performance jump it was on my 4070.

Maybe I'd pick it over the 3060. 3070 is a blowout and 3080.come on now ?

Any laptop will have a gimped GPU in order to save on heat and battery life ... if I were looking for a laptop I'd look for either a 80w or 100w 3060, but that's just me. Yes, you'd get less battery life and probably a huge brick charger, but that's what happens when you want a beefy laptop.

Only way laptops will ever beat a desktop is if they ever figure out a better battery and also superconductivity. Small form factor and heat will be solved if they can find a room temp superconductor. Until then we will have to live with heat problems in laptops.
