Quad-core Mendocino is fine, faster than the 6600T desktop I'm using, more than enough for a basic laptop. However at $250, it's likely dangerously close to much better laptops. i3-1215U has been near that price point.

Yes. Over the past few months, I bought a few brand new Core i3-1215U laptops ranging from $250-$270, though only with 4GB RAM (of coz I did upgrade it later)

I got curious and looked that up too and yes that is really sad you can't upgrade the ram unlike a lot of other acer laptops Frown .. I found this website

which mentioned the ram is soldered and only mentions the option to upgrade the m2 drive.. I'd be very nervous about buying a laptop with only 8 GB of ram Frown .. unless you're planning on using it the same way that you would a chromebook I guess..

Why is everyone sound like 8GB is a deal breaker? 8GB is good enough for Web, Office, light gaming and photo editing. I used 8GB PC for video editing too.

There has been much jump in CPU or memory requirements for everyday usage. It is not like you are going to buy it for Deep Learning.
