Would definitely get this if this had USB-C charging. Just that e-waste from big charging bricks.

my dell with a 10th gen intel does not specifically say it can charge usbc and came with a normal dell brick
but it will charge when i plug in a usbc and the symbol next to is is only the dp logo.
hard to believe this wont do the same thing, but i dont have any proof
this is a great price for a 12th gen but ive grown to accustomed to touch screens in my laptops

Should be able to output at QHD since the USB-C port is DisplayPort 1.4 compatible.
It doesn't look like this model has the DisplayPort. I could be wrong... Dontknow

I like the fact that it's a 12th gen (even if it's the slowest one, it beats most previous generations handily) and both the ram and ssd are upgradable. If it had a USB-C with displayport it would be a no-brainer at this price (not just for power, but also for an easy dual external monitor setup).
It does have USB-C with display port.

Ports
1 USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C® port with DisplayPort 1.4

The OP info says IPS screen. The Dell website says WVA. Not sure if that matters much.

Also, don't miss checking Expedited Shipping for free.
WVA is another term for IPS, fyi.

The specs say it has a backlit screen, doesn't say any place that it has a backlit keyboard! You are inadvertently giving out misinformation, on the website it says nonbacklit keyboard.

Should work fine with a cheap USB-C to DisplayPort cable from Amazon, etc. I use a uni brand USB-C to DisplayPort cable to connect my M1 MacBook Air to a QHD monitor.

I hope you're right. The way I had read the text was that this model has no USB-C at all since it does not have the NVIDIA® GeForce® MX550 discrete graphics. But I'm married - I'm used to being wrong... Peace

No it doesn't - read the fine print again. Also, someone who bought this from a previous deal mentioned above that it doesn't have it.

I think you might be right that this particular model doesn't have any USB-C ports and therefore no USB-C to DisplayPort. No USB-C port in the pictures. Looks like it's this port configuration:

2 USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports (on systems configured with non Type-C®)
1 USB 2.0 port

Are you sure about that?

This says something very different:
Quote :
LCD has two different panels of display that are IPS and WVA. The most popular manufacturing company is Dell.

KEY TAKEAWAYS
  • Dell IPS (In-Plane Switching) monitors offer better color accuracy and wider viewing angles than WVA (Wide Viewing Angle) monitors.
  • Dell WVA monitors have slightly faster response times than IPS monitors.
  • IPS monitors generally cost more than WVA monitors due to their superior color reproduction and viewing angles.

So there's first a conflict with USB-C being no USB-C.
Now we're not sure if it's IPS or WVA?

you'd be surprised how well laptops can do on small usbc chargers. I don't even carry my official power brick with me on my enterprise class dell workstation (precision).
You are preaching to the choir! My personal laptop's barrel charger has not been used since the first day I bought it. I charge the laptop using my Steam Deck charger or my work laptop's USB C charger. I was only mentioning a USB charger might not charge (some laptops) under full load just to cover all the bases, but you are right, a USB C charger should be fine 99% of the time unless it is a gaming laptop under heavy use. Even then it should still tread water or close.

Hmm, not sure what the source is for the person that wrote those takeaways is but according to many forums and dell chat WVA stands for Wide Viewing Angle (not to be confused with VA which means vertical alignment). According to Dell, WVA is a generic term that can be used for an IPS screen. Not sure why there is so much conflicting info on this but for what it's worth I had this laptop and the screen does appear to be an IPS. Maybe it's not, but to the eye it looks like it. Not the best quality screen but better than most budget screens out there.
