That's funny - for me, non-touchscreen is a feature.
To each his own, but I think touchscreen sucks. It just gets my laptop, looking messy, and the trackpad and gestures are good enough. And any touchscreen will suck up more battery, and generally have more glare in the sunlight.
I agree that it is very useful but for a productivity machine I'd prefer not. No fingerprints and a thinner and lighter device.

I really like the portability and hardware specs of this laptop, but my favorite feature other than the weight of my existing 15" LG Gram I bought tax-free from Costco (i5/16GB/500GB) for $800 is the OLED screen. I'm still trying to find a similarly priced LG Gram laptop with a newer CPU with OLED. The screen really does make the difference.

Better battery life! Most people rarely user and don't need touch screen anyway.

Why would you think like that? You don't need to use the touch. But it's there there is need be. For example if you need to have physical signature for documents then you don't need to print it.
It's called a touchpad for a reason...

Doesn't it make sense if you want to use the LG laptop for long term to get 32gb since you wouldn't be able to upgrade the ram?

What if a laptop you are currrently using, many times you are going close to 16gb ram. Say this is on a laptop that has 32gb ram. Does that mean you doing the same things on this LG laptop will mean it will be similar amount of ram? Or it probably would be max 12gb of ram? Since I assume the more ram you have on your laptop, the more it would use up? Example you have 32gb ram and doing lot of things might use up 18gb ram even? But doing the same things on the LG laptop would use maybe 12gb ram?

iv been using the 16gb model for a little over a week and hitting 60% memory usage just running a chrome tab streaming an NBA game
They still sell 8gb as a viable option. Your 16GB is the sweet spot for future proofing vs. not spending too much up front.

This isn't the touch screen model. This one has more RAM though.
Forget the touch screen. Comments on SF show that one runs hot with a noisy fan.

Does nobody use a MOUSE? They've been available since 1980s and in the 90s they added a scroll wheel.

Does anyone have this for high end video editing to give firsthand experience? I am looking for a travel device that can edit 422-420 10bit Long GOP, All intra, and Apple Prores Raw files without much of a hiccup. The only device I'm certain of at the moment is a Macbook Pro M1 or M2 but I am no fan of apple so any other suggestions for a lightweight laptop with capable hardware would be appreciated. I thought Maybe someone is more in the know for laptop and productivity work than I. This seems great on paper but I am unsure of the thermals for that kind of work.
The LG gram is not really for gaming or video editing. Its mainly for business app users who priortize extremely light weight.

The trade off for that light weight is poor construction with some comments on a warped laptop after a few months, bad cooling and as a result severe throttling once you start utilizing the CPU + iGPU under load like in gaming and video editing, screen is 350-nits which is fairly low brightness since 500-nit screens became pretty common back in 2021.

For serious video editing at 4k res with your requirements like the other poster said you probably want a heavier laptop with better cooling a dedicated 4080/4090 GPU.

I am not a touchscreen guy, but the same gram 17 (but with 16GB RAM and touchscreen) will be at Costco, also for $1,000: https://slickdeals.net/f/17019022-starting-nov-24-999-99-15-s-h-lg-gram-17-intel-evo-laptop-13th-gen-intel-i7-1360p-wqxga-touchscreen-windows-11-costco

Basically, the choice is 32GB RAM vs. touchscreen.
Costco also gives 2 years of warranty instead of one.

Hi all - I am also looking at the Samsung Galaxy Book3 - https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sams...Id=6531070. I have everything Samsung so was leaning there but this LG Gram seems like the better deal. Thoughts?
