Comparing apples and oranges again. The third one in the link is skytech, I just bought a gaming computer from them for way much more but back to the point, The skytech one is 16 gigabytes DDR4 and i5 12400, the listing posted is i7-13700F and 32 GB memory. If you're worried about video card, this thread is not for you, be prepared to pay 1600 for decent skytech rig

So a i5 gen 12 with half the ram and 1/3 of the HD space?
So a Ryzen 5 with half the ram and 1/3 of the HD space?

We all assumed you were talking about comparable poison with an 4060. Heck, you could probably build a 4060 machine for $450 if all the other specs are going to be ignored Wink

Notice not a single link provided was even close to 3TB of storage, an i7 gen 13, or 32gb of ram? I doubt that poison would even make your tummy hurt LMAO2

Ram, and storage are two of the cheapest things you can buy right now. Paying $100 more for some more storage and an extra 16gb kit down the road vs having to upgrade your GPU which will cost $400+
But the deals are no longer comparable if you have to factor in almost $200 extra worth of upgrades and you ain't upgrading to a i7 cheaply. So thats another $100-200 AFTER selling the i5. And why would anyone go through all of that with a fresh machine, might as well build one if you are gutting / upgrading half the PC within the first 72 hours.

Stopped being similar in price several steps ago.

If you think storage and 32gb's of ram is important for a sub $900 build for 1080p, then buy this refurbed PC and have a great time And all the CPU's in these builds are perfectly fine for a 1080p gaming setup.
We were talking about apple to apple machines for apple to apple prices not enduser use cases or FPS's at a certain resolution. But you are right, all of those machines are very capable gaming PC's and at first glance appear to be good buys. No one suggested otherwise. All we were talking about was comparable PC's for comparable prices...something you suggested was an easy find but you have yet to point to.

Heck, I'll buy that i7-13700F, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD, 2TB HDD, RTX 4060 right now if you can find me one for $839. (insert link here)

Edit: Honestly your best bang for your buck and ease of upgrading would be buy this exact machine with the 3060, then swap to a 4060 as opposed to adding ram, adding storage, and upgrading the processor. Unloading a used 3060 on eBay is going to be far more profitable than selling a second hand CPU (even if basically new) and you aren't having to pay the extra $200 towards the rest of the parts just to upgrade your orange to the apple all the other people were discussing.

So... since we're talking about butchering up the hardware. Is it possible to move the hardware from this PC and put it into a different shell? Say, something like the HYTE Y60 or Y70?

Since it is a refurb, I feel like this is still over-priced. I'll add it to my spreadsheet of gaming desktops under $1k and you can tell me what you think.

Not all heroes wear capes. That spreadsheet is super helpful in my endless journey to find a good price on a gaming PC. Take my worthless Reps and know you'll help make my 11 year old boy's Christmas wish come true.

Thanks. I would never go for refurb anyway. Probably means returned.
Usually means third party or manufacturer refurbished

There was another deal for a new system (same as this one) posted here: https://slickdeals.net/f/17026129-ymmv-in-store-only-costco-msi-aegis-r-13tc-445us-gaming-pc-999-97
But it is YMMV. I couldn't find that in Costco near me. Also, I didn't find a refurbished system with same configuration cheaper! Let us know if someone finds a cheaper price elsewhere.
It would be a great deal if a RTX 4060 system with similar configuration pre-built for less price and brand new.
