Anyone know the difference between the Animal Ball 2 and the 3? Got the 2 last year for $250.

Motor I believe is stronger (suction) and the biggest thing is the 'head' on the vacuum is designed to really resist long hairs tangling. The reviews I saw showed almost zero tangled hair in the main brush. For me that is everything, ordered one myself. Otherwise not much different apparently. Some even say it's less maneuverable than the 2.

The hair thing is all I care about though =)

What's the difference between the 2 and the 3? I see a price difference between the two models locally of about 30 bucks. Was curious if there are any advantages of the 3 vs the 2.

Yes, I already have one. I also have a long haired German Shepard and my house is a two story. I'd like to have one up stairs and one downstairs and if something happens to one, I have a backup. The 2 hasn't been bad at all. Actually been very impressed. But when the two get close in price to each other, I begin to contemplate why that's the case. We do love our Animal 2. Way better than the Shark we had (not surprising).

Yeah, I hear you on the hair. If the suction is stronger than the vacuum would be a bit less manuaverable on shag carpets and the like. I noticed that on the 2. Although it wasn't impossible or anything. The ball feature itself looks about the same so that probably isn't a factor in the complaints.

I read that the 3 can also adjust suction too through a slider on the head, fyi!

The retractable hose is a design flaw on this. Since the suction is too strong, the vacuum moves towards you when the hose is detached using attachments. I have to reroute the hose around my shoulder to get it workable somewhat, but it is very awkward.

I'm wondering the same. Costco has animal 3+ on sale again for $280. Looks like Costco one doesn't have animal grooming tool
