to MOD this cabinet-
I can't post pages directly if it might violate slickdeals. There are videos to follow and it's easy if you do PDubs Arcade Loft "Hack Arcade1Up Countercades! Add Batocera & Thousands Of Games! Mystery Encoder Hack!" from youtube. you just need to do Team encoder's mod by downloading their zip file, then installing the driver to the marvel cabinet, then installing the MysteryMSHCC. you don't need to do step 3 (follow the video up to 3:33 only). You then just download the batocera 16gb to image your usb drive (you must torrent it from the arcade punks website) and it's a plug and play ordeal.
you install a program called balenaEtcher in order to image the usb drive. the video for this is called "16GB Arcade1Up Countercade Hack Image! 1,016 Games!" and you just need to watch starting at the point of 4:40.
some hiccups: If you plug the micro usb cable and the cabinet turns on/boots up to the menus, you will be able to load the drivers, but you won't be able to get to step 2. the cabinet must be off. it turns on by its own because there is enough power from the usb cable so you must try different micro usb cables (and also different usb sockets). I think it worked for me on a usb A 2.0 socket off my laptop. the usb 3.0 socket was providing too much power which auto booted the marvel cabinet.

Yeah. Both players have 6 buttons which make this the ideal model to mod. It's easy to just flash the board with a driver or two and then you can just make flashdrive images or downloads to make it plug and play. When you want to go back to stock function, all you need to do is pull out the flash drive. It doesn't take up a lot of space which makes this great for people who don't want a huge cabinet that takes up too much space in your man cave/living room..
OR you can put in a Rasberri PI and a joystick encoder

wonder if the ms pac man one is worth it as it still was available last i looked. why do people not want it as much, because its not two player?

Ideally, you want a machine that has 6 buttons. if you mod a ms pacman arcade, mortal kombat, or any other machine with less than 6 buttons then you can't run some games. It's easier to just add ms pacman and other games like Marvel vs St fighter to this Marvel Super heroes machine.
I am quite surprised at the quick sell out and I got lucky myself by actually checking this item on target before going to bed at 2am(pacific) and saw it drop to 99.99 (i had an order for $150). I quickly cancelled the $150 order and made a new order with the lower price. I actually reserved on a second store location and I'm glad I did because this first machine I picked up wouldn't even turn on. it's DOA.

i believe target has a 14 day price match to themselves, i did it recently when my pixel tablet purchased at target went on sale almost two weeks later recently via chat, they refunded my redcard the difference quickly.
it might have been quicker to just cancel and reorder though anyway in your case as long as it worked out.
for modding yeah, i realized that after, plus ms pac man only has one stick/player which probably reduces desirability somewhat eg in a family environment. that said as always with modding these i bet there are lots of problems (read the youtube comments on modding vids, lots of people having lots of issues). however since you can just pull out the usb stick to go back to stock it would be a no harm no foul situation, but personally i wouldn't count on modding this, just a possible bonus.
