to MOD this cabinet-
I can't post pages directly if it might violate slickdeals. There are videos to follow and it's easy if you do PDubs Arcade Loft "Hack Arcade1Up Countercades! Add Batocera & Thousands Of Games! Mystery Encoder Hack!" from youtube. you just need to do Team encoder's mod by downloading their zip file, then installing the driver to the marvel cabinet, then installing the MysteryMSHCC. you don't need to do step 3 (follow the video up to 3:33 only). You then just download the batocera 16gb to image your usb drive (you must torrent it from the arcade punks website) and it's a plug and play ordeal.
you install a program called balenaEtcher in order to image the usb drive. the video for this is called "16GB Arcade1Up Countercade Hack Image! 1,016 Games!" and you just need to watch starting at the point of 4:40.
some hiccups: If you plug the micro usb cable and the cabinet turns on/boots up to the menus, you will be able to load the drivers, but you won't be able to get to step 2. the cabinet must be off. it turns on by its own because there is enough power from the usb cable so you must try different micro usb cables (and also different usb sockets). I think it worked for me on a usb A 2.0 socket off my laptop. the usb 3.0 socket was providing too much power which auto booted the marvel cabinet.

I'd like to see a cell phone used to play an arcade game that requires more than 6 buttons and a joystick to pull off combos. It's funny how someone comments on a whole different product. It's like they saw a Ferrari and say,"Wow, that car doesn't have trunk space and only seats two people. My van can hold 8 people and still hold luggages"
Some people may not have seen the screen size which is why I pointed it out
That said, that kind of setup has 0% of the cool factor of an MvC-decorated cabinet. Would jump on this in a heartbeat if I had any near me, but closest one is still 45 miles away since yesterday.

That was exactly the point I was making. you don't have joysticks to play on games emulated on the cell phone. I have a fold too and I don't even run emulation on it because touch screens just suck at precise controls of retro consoles and arcade games. Carrying a portable joystick is not ideal for connecting to a cellphone but it's not like this 1up arcade can be carried everywhere either
I've always wanted to make my own arcade cabinet and stick in cheap PC parts and run MAME with thousands of games. On a coffee table ideally. But this is a great alternative (if you can find one) since it's a small arcade cabinet and easily hackable.

I was somehow lucky to be able to score a $50 gen 1 SFII 1up cabinet during covid that I've yet to open, but plan to mod. I have almost everything I've bought almost everything I need since 2020 (A RPi4 that I may update with a 5 instead, sanwa joysticks, buttons that light up, sound amp, etc.), just not the right "space or vibe where I was living. Now 3 houses later, I have a my own real "mancave" separate from my office l plan to keep it in. Now I just need to find the time with my other million and one house/home lab projects! And here I am trying to buy more when I haven't even opened my 3.5 y.o cabinet!
nice try but 20:9 phone vs whatever aspect ratio this is (looks 4:3-ish?), in all reality in square inches this looks at least 2X as big as phone display maybe 3X.
It's like how your phone has a 6.7" screen but is nowhere near as big a screen as a 7" tablet. they just go really tall making the diagonal sound bigger (not necessarily why they do it, but because tall/slim works well for your hand)
6.7" at 21:9 (closest i could get to 20:9 at the website)=16.08" area. 8" 4:3=30.7" area
FYI, if you have 20% circle offer, this works with it (if you can find one). This would work out to $81.31 if I took the trip to picked it up. Someone please talk me out of it!
