Interesting that it has an oil filtration system, but the reviews say the lid isn't tupperware tight and so you can spill oil everywhere. Anyone actually own this? I've been getting into oil frying but my main concern is that I'm able to do it in a pan with only about 2 cups while this apparently needs about a gallon to cover the elements. I recycle my oil by filtering through a paper towel. There's a trick to use corn starch but frankly I don't find it works better than just a paper towel.

I own this, fairly straightforward to use…don't go over the oil fill lines and you won't have a mess everywhere…the filter system gets the big stuff and works sufficiently..the container does not seem air tight like a Tupperware container, but I did not expect that either…I am overall happy with the fryer

I have owned one of these for over 10+ years. Originally it was called Emeril by T-Fal. This is the best home deep fryer you will ever find. Considering it has it's own built in filtration system. There is no reason for the lid to be on tight. It just sits on the top. The oil goes no where near the top. There is a min and max line inside to know how much and little oil to use. As far as the bottom container, it is where the filtered oil goes. I usually drain into this every week or 2 (use the fryer a couple times a week). After cleaning the main pan, I will re use the oil every other cleaning.
