I got that Gen2 Ode grinder a few months ago (for $300) after persistent recommendations from that coffee snob friend. It has been quite a game changer for every day coffee grinding. I came from a plastic Bodum grinder.

You can get an extra 10% off one item at Seattle Coffee Gear if you sign up for their coupon. It worked on the Ode Gen 2 for me.

I hate hype - but that I have experimented with this grinder my results have been spectacular. I am reading some negative comments and all I can think of is that they got defective units. Also the workflow and aesthetics is great. I for one am happy I did not go for a df64 for filter coffee. My only other option I was considering seriously was to take a Eureka mignon zero and switch to brew burrs.

Why are you happy about not going for a DF64?

I had Gen 1 and Baratza Virtuoso Plus....I just got Gen 2....Gen 2 is the Anti-Gen1, which I hated and went back to Baratza...Gen 2 is great..using the David Ross water drops technique, there are no static issues...the coffee taste better than using Baratza...there are no messes at the end of grinding...this price is $30 more than the Baratza...not bad at this price point!

It excells at espresso not great for filter unless you upgrade the burr set. Also workflow better.
