Guys, save yourself money. If you already have Audyssey, just buy the $20 app and UMIK-I mic. Download FREE REW software. Follow this guy's step-by-step instructional videos to tune your system to PRO levels that Audyssey alone or Dirac can not even touch. This man is GOD and and a LEGEND. Subscribe to his channel, watch his videos, ask him questions, tune your system to EPIC level - thank me later.

Does anyone know their return policy if you are unhappy with the results? I wouldn't mind trying it out, but I'm not confident it will beat Audyssey MultiEQ X32 with the $20 app on my Denon AVR -X800H, given that there is no subwoofer correction with Dirac on this AVR and I'm unlikely to want to pay $850 for Dirac full + DLBC for dual sub woofers (even with a 30% discount) should that feature become available next year.

The UMIK-1 is $79 through miniDSP. I have no idea what they charge for shipping.
It's $30 to the US, but no tax. I bought one. The UMM-6 mic is not picking up audio at the correct levels. I'm going to return it. Dirac does sound very good even with the bad mic. Dialog is a lot more clear.

I didn't see a post from you about their return policy. Did I miss that? I'm familiar with REW and MSO, but those are highly manual pathways that I'm frankly not interested in at the moment.

Anyone know if the BF discount is the best or does Dirac have sales like this throughout the year? TIA

I'm wondering the same, but this is the first time I've seen it on sale.

Looks like the standalone licenses has 14 day trials, but not the licenses for the AVRs which are a straight purchase only.

I'd consider holding off if it comes around again. I just dropped $1,500 this AM lol. Almost wondering if I should just wait a year.

Maybe you know but is the AVR license transferable to a new AVR if I happen to buy another and upgrade my AVR or maybe it would be better buying a standalone then applying to each AVR. I'm lazy so I haven't don't much research - perhaps it's tied to an email address. Guess I can look into it now.

From site:

License transfers are possible if you are selling your hardware device and the new owner wants to take ownership of the Dirac Live license, or if you experienced hardware failure and are using a replacement device of the same model.

Transferring or using licenses across multiple devices or models is not supported. For example, if you bought a license for an NAD M10 and are now buying a Denon X3800H, you will need to purchase a new license, as your NAD license is not transferable to the Denon.

Also the base license is for mono/stereo.

Multi is an upgrade. Seems as if after 2 versions of the software, purchase again lol

Expensive hobby…350 every few years isn't a huge deal I suppose.

I don't see the mono/stereo option for the Denon AVR, only Limited vs. Full Bandwidth.

Oh I see, thank you! Will this license cover more than Left/Right? I understand the sub calibrations are not included but was hoping my surrounds are included.

Edit: Never mind, says multichannel Smilie

Dirac isn't a substitute for your own knowledge as setup prowess in this hobby.

Agree, but its a shortcut for those who have more limited time and other hobbies as well, and this is a market for it.

I skimmed the video, and while I'm capable of doing what was asked, I decided I'd rather not spend 5 hours trying to make it work, and just spend the $240 for the software for now.

Thanks for posting this. It is very helpful. but some of us don't have that kind of time or expertise.

You're welcome. I had zero knowledge of this stuff, but decided to make it a fun learning experience for 30-40 minutes each night. After couple of weeks I became very familiar with it and now from start to finish including taking the measurements I can calibrate any system to its published capabilities in about 2 hours. And it sounds amazing - something that Audyssey or Dirac could not even come close to.
