Would it spatchcock a turkey. I ruined my trusty old ( one made in Japan) Kershaw shears doing that a couple of Thanksgivings ago. They replaced it but the new Kershaws are now made in China and they're junk.

I own a set of Shun knives. They were a wedding gift in 2006. They are 17 years old and continue to be in excellent condition. I have only sharpened them... a VERY few times (~3??) over the 17 years.

- Are these a real deal? Wusthof and most other brands I know just sell stamped shears.
- Does Shun free sharpening work on these? (unless they discontinued the program again?)
- What, only 6% off? Get out ah here!

How much worse are the new Kershaw? They seem like they're at a decent price on Amazon right now…

The new Kershaw is practically useless. I have difficulty cutting through chicken bones. Not as robust as the Japanese-made Kershaw. Bends easily. Seems like the blades are made of stamped steel. Also, the sheathing over the handles is made of hard rubber, making it difficult to get a solid grip. In every way inferior to the original Kershaw shears. The Shun shears would be a far better choice.
