Controller warranty is 90 days (might be 1 year for the one that is included with the system). It is based on your your purchase date on the receipt. I only buy controllers from Walmart because their 3 year warranty is so cheap.
Unfortunately, censoring discussion of the topic will not resolve the issue. It's a well established fact that these controllers have an almost eventual drift issue. The only way to "move on" is for a major hardware revision to take place.

One of my Xbox controllers went bad just recently. One of the triggers doesn't work properly. And the thing is that I don't even play much. Having a busy jobs and two kids doesn't give me much time to play, and even when I do my time is split between Xbox, Switch, PS5 and the Steam deck. And even when I'm playing on my Xbox, my time is split between the two controllers I have. My point is that the controller wasn't used much at all and I'm disappointed it went bad already. With all these deals on controllers I'm tempted to buy a replacement, but I've learnt my lesson. Not buying the Microsoft Xbox controller this time. I read good things about the GameSir wired controller. Hall effect triggers and Hall effect joysticks. Just ordered it for $40 on Amazon. Yeah, I prefer wireless but Xbox only licenses wired controllers. I'm hoping third party controllers will provide better longevity.
Is this the Xbox core controller? If so I have the robot white and it's been solid last 2 years for me. I got some eneloop rechargeable batteries from Amazon for it and it's working great
