I wouldn't recommend buying from A4L either. I bought a receiver from them and it was messed up day 1 and the dude running the site personally told me that he would not accept a return. I've been stuck with a messed up receiver ever since.

Okay, maybe not a Denon receiver but every receiver AC4Less sells comes with some sort of mfrs warranty plus whatever their return period may be. Sucks that they did not honor the return but you should still be able to use the mfrs warranty to get it repaired, unless the warranty has expired.

Maybe y'all were right about Denon refurb farkery. They sent me the wrong receiver. Now I have to go through a mess trying to get this back to them and get the correct one. They didn't even do anything to make it right other than the bare minimum of offering to send me the correct one.

I would not buy refurbished from Denon again. I opened the box on a refurb and all the screws for the cover had come off. I don't think they put the right screws in, so they all fell out during shipment. I was not about to plug it in. When I reported this to them, they basically said "ok" we'll send you a return label. I think this is a normal thing for them. I've bought other refurbs that were, you know, refurbished.

Pretty awful if Denon's refurbs have come to this. I bought a Denon refurb receiver from a stereo shop in the early 90's that functioned well until it was replaced last year. Was finally forced to upgrade to HDMI connections. I run 4 ohm speakers. Check the models if you do, too. Only some can be set for them.

I wouldn't buy any Denon refurb. I had a new Denon that went to crap and had to go through hell with their warranty. Can only imagine what passes through their refurb.

I just received my order - do not buy. The receiver came in a big box with a couple of broken styrofoam pieces and some bubble wrap. I can't believe it came to me in one piece in such a sorry shipping state. Whoever did this really hates their job. No calibration mic and no remote, but stand for said mic and batteries included.

Oh and the right surround channel is dead.

Avoid. Now to deal with support.

Looks like from everyone's experience in this thread and in general from other Denon threads that Denon refurbished used to be good and it went down hill in the recent years or months. Particularly lot of horror stories in the last six months. I need to replace one of my 15+ years old receiver, will wait.
