Most coffee makers will have internal plastic parts, I don't know why this detail gets harped on every time I see an Aeropress but not for those $20 Mr. Coffee machines everyone happily snatches up for their home/office.

I have one. The filter basket - where the hot water goes - is plastic. I collect coffee makers (why? who knows?) and considering their price the Technivorms should be made entirely of steel, and their vacuum carafe should be second to none. Neither is true.

nope, considering that how it works, a glass version would be dangerous and great for lawsuits.

in for one. Always wanted to try using these to make ice coffee. otherwise i use a french press. i have no counter space for a coffee machine.

Looked into it. Polycarbonate hold to nearly 300°F and you want to have the water around 175° to brew so it should be more than capable as long as you keep that in mind.
