This was $100 cheaper with 512GB storage just a few weeks ago: https://slickdeals.net/f/17007073-lenovo-legion-slim-5-ryzen-7-7840hs-14-5-2-8k-oled-120hz-rtx-4060-32gb-ram-1244-10-free-shipping?src=SiteSearchV2Algo
A $100 increase certainly doesn't justify double the storage, imo.

Totally different non-oled computer with less ram and costs more anyway
I suppose I didn't put as much weight on the OLED screen on this machine as others might. Fair point, if that's a big enough benefit. I guess it's more if you buy new, but open box was cheaper than this (and spec-wise, its massively better)

Wow, I just bought the lenovo legion slim 7 (Ryzen 7 7840hs, rtx 4060) and now I'm wondering if I return it to get the smaller 14.5" size for portability.

imo you should since 14-inch form factor gives almost all the performance of the 4060

I'm wondering about the battery-life tradeoff and I'm not sure if that extra inch and a half difference would have such a large impact. Also considering that I paid just about $1000 before taxes for the legion 7 slim pro, it'd be $274 more for the 14.5" legion slim 5.

Extra $274 is worth it for me for smaller form factor but it's up to you since I have seen lotta good deals for chunky laptops under 1000$

The M16 is impressively thin/light for its performance and screen size, but it's noticeably larger/heavier than the G14 and Legion Slim 5. Whether or not that matters depends on use case. I bought the G15 a while back and returned it because I prefer the G14's form factor.

Even the Legion Slim 5 is a little portly for my taste, but between the (slightly larger and higher resolution) OLED screen and quieter operation (superior thermals), I think I'll be OK with the extra 0.3 pounds vs my trusty old G14.

I've been waiting for a reasonably-priced portable gaming laptop with an 120+Hz OLED or mini-LED screen for a while. Though the 2560x1600 G14 screen is sharp/vibrant/responsive, the screen on my 14" Macbook Pro work laptop is more pleasant: some colors on the G14 screen can be harsh, and the MBP causes a bit less eyestrain.

I know that getting a capable 14" gaming laptop comes with a bit of an extra premium, but you can still get the Zephyrus m16 deal which blows this out of the water with an objectionably better processor and a 4070 for the same(ish) price.
There are multiple reasons to get this over that:
1. Lenovo support blows Asus out of the water
2. Better keyboard
3. Better screen
4. Smaller
5. Better battery

Should note that the screen doesn't support Freesync/G-Sync. Other than that a very competitive laptop to the G14.

This or the thinkpad?
Vastly different functionalities and purposes distinguish the ThinkPad X1 Carbon, which weighs 2.5 lb—significantly lighter than the Legion Slim, rated at 3.8 lb.

Also, please note that the charger for the Legion will undoubtedly be a lot heavier and bigger than the charger for the ThinkPad.

For office work and web browsing in a lightweight unibody design, the X1 Carbon sets the gold standard.

The Legion Slim 5 Gen 8 isn't a bad option if you want to game on the go, but the laptop has be plugged in in order to harness is full potential.

I was initially looking for a macbook air m2, but started seeing these laptops and came out to the Legion Slim 5. I notice 16" legion's version is not OLED Display. Why is that? To me, if slim 5 is OLED, Slim 7 should also be. Does anyone knows what happens in this case?

From digging through the Lenovo site during BF shopping, it seemed like they only offer IPS for screens 16" or larger. From my research, I could only find the HP Omen Transcend which offered a miniled at 16" in this price range.

Is there a reason people buy OLED screens especially when that means much less battery? Are most people using it by itself as oppose to connecting it to a monitor?

Now even if you use it like a regular laptop, is the OLED screen so good where you give up battery life for it?
