I think they're referring to price-per-TB, so 18 TB for $200 ($11.11/TB) is fairly close to 14TB for $150 ($10.71/TB).
Excellent price per TB, but for almost the same price you can get the WD 18TB from Best Buy which people say is more reliable (in my experience all the major brands are all the same)
Depends on scale of your setup.

For example I have 20 drives, having them in external housings with 20 power bricks wouldn't ideal.

Instead I have a server running in basement.

Also if you shuck them and put it in proper setup you also have proper cooling.

Drives in these external enclosures often run hot.

Bought 5.
Is anyone else having the drive disconnected itself when writing to it? Really weird.
The drive continues to run even after I turned the computer off. I had to unplug the power and reboot the computer for it to be recognized again. SeaTools, and Crystal DiskMark say the drive is OK. It's happened twice.

I went through a bunch of these Seagate external drives, just like this one, of various sizes, and the 14TB model shown here was the only one to ever give me problems. Constant clicking and disconnects. Guess I got the bad apple of the bunch. Good luck to others

Mine disconnects as well

is it a lifetime return item or 90 day for refund?

edit…apparently it's not a 90 day only returnable for refund item. https://customerservice.costco.co.../a_id/1191

was able to pickup 5 at an area costco, for $99/each. for those with mac, is the disk utility check as good as the windows disk checkers? is there a mac app that checks more/better then apple disk utility?

also, is there a (better then the rest) youtube tutorial of sorts IF i wanted to remove the drives and use them that way? found a good link on removing disk. https://youtu.be/2-lH-EoNVwk?si=fEN7HK3I_ESs7air

Based on my research, the shucking isn't too hard. The challenge is getting benefit with a pc instal. RAID 0 didn't seem to help much and it wasn't a simple process. Speeds won't exceed a USB 3.1 so there is little benefit. IMO
NAS is another story

Changing the USB port worked for me
