Which of the Sonys does this compete with and which would u recommend? What is a good walk around lens from say 18-130 to pair this with. Amateur here using canon t7i with canon 70-200 2.8 for sons soccer. Would like good combo of video and photo capabilities. Tia.

I would say s5 can compete sony a73, picture wise out standing! Video is great, color science is great, but it lacks in autofocus,if you handle af then its a gem of its segment.
Note : 4k video on higher framers are cropped to apsc.
Personally i prefer lumix over sony for color science.

Uhh, it has AF, it just isn't good AF. As far as video goes though, there's nothing Sony has that can match this thing for Video, in this price range.

If I recall correctly, this is the ONLY full frame camera on sale today that doesn't support pdaf. Come to think of it. This maybe the only full frame mireless camera to not support pdaf ever.

quite an achievement actually. since the S5 mark 2 did receive pdaf, this maybe going in history with this title. worth getting it just for the bragging rights.

This camera for the most part runs circles around the Canon R8, however there's a lens issue that I'm not sure how widespread it is. Need more people who own this camera to check their lenses. I stumbled on this issue yesterday.
