The thing with GW2 vs many other mmos is that it focuses on horizontal progression, a niche very few mmos cover, so they give the market the prefers horizontal progression to them virtually scott free. Theres not many mmos where if you take an extended break, you arent playing catchup

If you haven't played then the 7.50 is definitely worth it and you can explore whether getting the later expansions and living world seasons if you don't want to spend more upfront

Also keep in mind that there's a 3rd expansion out after these two. You can get all 3 expansions for $20 or all 3 expansions and the Living World Seasons (access to all areas) for $50.
