Not sure that person knew what they were talking about as others have mentioned likely differences.
I did end up buying the 12 inch standard though and it's nice. I will say, if you're on the heavier side (I'm ~200lbs), I'd go for the firmer 10 inch. I wish I had. This mattress does sink in after a few months.
I think from my research that's just natural settling in, but it made it less comfortable for me. The firmer one would be better for slightly heavier folks I'm betting.
Anyway, for $200 I would say this is a pretty dang good deal based on my experience with the standard.
The mattress I HAD was a medium, and after 7-8 years it had become unbearable. A couple springs were poking up, and it was sinking in certain areas.
This firm is exactly what I needed (back/stomach sleeper).
It's a lot firmer than what I expected from a bed in a box. The top 1" layer of foam is soft, but the mattress has very little give overall. To me, it's a good compromise between my previous medium mattress and sleeping on a hardwood floor. I've seen it described as a 6-7/10 firmness - like I said, I'm not an expert, but I'd probably put it at a 7-8/10. I'm not sinking into it at all.
It inflates in about 10 seconds once fully unwrapped. No real off gassing or fumes to speak of, only a slight smell. It's one sided. I've seen people complain about the edges on similar models, but the edge support on the firm feel about as good as my prior spring mattress. It inflated to the full 10", if not slightly more.
I'm just now waking up on day 4 and I'm very comfortable lying here.
Obviously I can't speak for how well it will hold up, but I'm happy with my purchase for now.
Standard 12":

Signature 12":

So the signature has 5 layers vs 3 on the standard. the 14" standard seems to have 4 layers (2" foam base layer).

To answer my own question from earlier, I ordered on Nov 30, and initially it said it would arrive Dec 26th, but it actually shipped on Dec 3rd and should be arriving on Dec 8th.

I got the 10" and plan to add 3-6" of latex topper from Sleep on Latex (which I already have).

This feels more like in the 6.5 out of 10 for firmness. Was hoping for more like a 7.5. Better than what I was using, happy with the purchase so far.
I want firmer and fact that $+100 twin Zinus is more comfortable than my $2k Simmons, I just won't spend that much on a bed again. However, it's difficult finding firm no matter the price range really.
