I hate to say this but nothing beats mac mini in this form factor. It's just unbeatable for its price and performance
I dislike apple products and mac os in general but I have to agree. I am always worried about a chinese bios issue popping up from these smaller brands.

This is a good deal, you can find reviews of these where they load SteamOS and turn it into a console. Minisforum is a pretty well known brand for devices in this size. One of the best for a non-apple device in this size. The 680M Chipset is really capable especially if you use FSR on a large screen.

Except this is 55 percent faster than the 8 core M2 you get on the $499 version. Not to mention more ram and storage for $100 less.

While Mac is great. But if I was buying my one and only computer for various tasks, personal, entertainment, tinker and such. I would not go for a Mac. Window will still make life easy. And I own a Mac mini m1 and a MacBook Air m2.
