2D is 12v lead acid only and only comes with terminal rings.

If you are not charging 6v nor lithium, Id get the 2D.

Keep in mind the 2D does not have a quick disconnect. Its meant to be permanently mounted to the battery and you just run an extension cord to the vehicle when you are done with your fun.

FYI all those talking about a quick connect option. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS ITS IN THE BOX. You will notice that the leads to the terminal clamps can be unscrewed from the clamps allowing you to attach to a battery permanently. I believe they even provide you with the allen key to undo the screws in the box. Even shows this on their website for the Genius 1. Been using my genius 1 for many years and had kept lots of batteries topped off.

So the NOCO GENIUS1 or the NOCO GENIUS2 for $41.46, a $17.50 difference?

I appreciate the correction, but I still have contempt for proprietary connections.

Here's the standard connector used by everyone except for Noco;

I see value in the extra charging modes offered by this half as powerful float charger that costs a little more and uses a proprietary connector, but an effective desulfate charger would be capable of much more than 1A output, because the process involves pulsing a high current.

As an aside, I'm a tinkerer, and I'm eliminating lead-acid batteries from my vehicles in favor of LiFePO4. My Acura has a small 7.2Ah pack in the glove box that I keep topped up with a battery maintainer (since I don't drive it often).

It is X-Connect, not a standard SAE connector. I like how compact SAE connectors are, but the X-Connect gets the job and is water resistant.

Yeah, but it's also worth mentioning that doing so means the charger can only ever charge one battery, and you can't even use the clamps on another battery after attaching the leads to the battery, which makes it not that very versatile of a product, especially when every other name brand battery maintainer out there has made it easy to quick connect with multiple batteries and that's what people might be expecting here as well.

I have NOCO genius 1, and 5, Battery Tender 0.75 amp and AXTRA 3.6 amp battery charger. I like the durability on the NOCO 1, it can repair a dead battery. I ordered another AXTRA that's currently on sale for $23.95 today, here is the info: https://www.amazon.com/AXTRA-Full...B08T7V4VQC

Yes it is. Especially in winter season, u don't want the battery to go dead. Placing one of the battery maintainer to keep the battery running.

I was looking into those 12.8v Lifepo4 batteries as a replacement for the lead acid batteries in my cars too but most forums online said it wasn't feasible mainly because of the way lifepo4 batteries are charged. They don't like being topped up at all times while lead acid batteries enjoy maintaining that 14.4v charge from the alternator. I'm also a tinkerer and used to get those jump starters all the time but might just resort to grabbing 3s or 4s lipo packs for jump starting my cars.

If you have a multimeter (They're extremely cheap and I would recommend one), check the voltage across the two terminals. Chances are that if the car sat for a year, that battery is likely too far drained to be brought back to life, however, it doesn't hurt to try to take it out of the car and keep it on one of these chargers for a couple weeks. Otherwise, goto Walmart and just swap it for their value batteries priced at $70 and it comes with a 1 year warranty. Most car batteries can last for 5-10 years (climate dependent), if you pull it out every few months and put it on one of these chargers for a couple nights. The car alternator only keeps the car topped off if you do a ton of highway trips, otherwise, most batteries fail prematurely with short trips.
