from Costco for 1199?
Primarily for my wife who is going to use it to work. Secondarily for some gaming / video editing.

The main drawback is that I doubt it will have the best battery life. I have an older Legion 5 and it multi tasks beautifully but has a shorter battery life. Not sure about this one though.
Either way, I really like mine and 32 GB ram and 1 tb solid state should fit the bill.

Better Processor (for a laptop), better integrated video, better dedicated video card. The reviews show pretty good battery life also. It is over 4 pounds though.
I changed ram to 32gb since its soldered. It doesn't allow doing that w ryzen 9, only w ryzen 7 so i went w 7.
Upgraded the storage to 1tb as well.
I couldn't get a good enough deal on zephyrus pro duo this Black Friday. Mbp was my backup option but all their good deals were on non silver colors and 8gb ram laptops so gave them a pass. Finally settled w this one as this is highly reviewed this year. A good screen too. Hopefully its bright enough at 400 nits, i prefer 500 min but lenovo screens are generally good looking so hoping the same trend continues.
I received mine yesterday ($1274 w/ 32GB/1TB). First impression vs 2022 Asus G14 RX 6800s (w/ 40GB/1TB):
- The G14's screen is quite good, but the Legion's screen is nicer. It's noticeably larger and a bit sharper. Colors pop more and feel warmer. Screen seems less harsh and should cause less eye strain. No backlight bleed; perfectly uniform colors and brightness (as expected with OLED). The G14's screen is rated 100 nits higher than the Legion Slim 5, but it's not noticeably brighter.
- Legion keyboard feels more pleasant. Keyboard backlight is much better in low ambient lighting.
- Trackpads feel about the same.
- The Legion is quieter and cooler when gaming (better thermals).
- The G14's smaller footprint is noticeable when moving the laptop around (though both are light and compact).
- The G14's power brick is laughably huge compared to the Legion's.
Specifications:Asus G14 (2022)
- Ryzen 9
- RX 6800s (105W)
- 40 GB RAM DDR5 4800Mhz (8 soldered, 32 GB DIMM)
- 1 TB SSD
- 14" 2560x1600 LED 120Hz
- 3.6 pounds (5.2 w/ 240W charger)
- 312x227x21 mm
Legion Slim 5 Gen 8 (2023)- Ryzen 7
- RTX 4060 (105W)
- 32 GB LPDDR5X-6400MHz (soldered)
- 1 TB SSD
- 14.5" 2880x1800 OLED 120Hz
- 3.8 pounds (4.9 w/ 170W charger)
- 327x249x21 mm
Notes:- 2023 G14 w/ RTX 4060 is about 10% faster [reddit.com] than the 2022 G14 w/ RX 6800s
- G14 and Legion Slim 5 offer reduced performance compared to pure gaming laptops, but both offer decent gaming experiences while also being portable and reasonably efficient for normal use (browsing, videos, non-CPU-intensive productivity).
