I am not so sure. I spent $800 on a over the ear headphones and my $299 Bose was 2X better. Never regretted so hard my life.

At this level of price/performance, best to try them out before purchasing. Head-fi meetups/canjams, store demo, etc.
The sound signature of these "excessive" driver earphones are unique, and depending on the music and hardware you push thru them, either great or meh.
Typically, the more expensive, the better matched your hardware needs to be to properly drive earphones to their utmost best performance.
I found them decent for the price, not my sound signature, moved on to others I preferred at head-fi canjam...but those were $800+ alternatives...
