These 300 ohm cans are harder to drive and will need amps but I have been quite pleased with how my HD6XX and HD580s have sounded straight out of my M1 MacBook Pro's jack. Apple built in a very decent DAC and high impedance amp into their new notebooks.
I've read so much about the HD600s and their absolutely amazing neutral sound that I had to give them a try. Glad that they are now priced so well.
On the other hand:
HD600 is legendary for its midrange. Sennheiser is also legendary for their great QC. There are people who still use their HD600s after 2 decades or more. Hifiman QC is not as reliable.
Yep. I have the Focal Elex, have heard HD600 and recently bought the Hifiman HE1000 Stealth. Stealth is better, but also brighter.

I haven't had a chance to test these for studio use, but I really like the 560Ss I have
If you aren't in a rush and are willing to keep an eye out the ATH-R70x are probably the best gaming headphones (under 300). I picked them up for around $250 towards the end of last year, not sure how inflation will change the price on upcoming deals, they're $350 on amazon right now.
I should note a couple things about the ATs, you will need a separate mic (probably a desk mic as I'm not sure a modmic is compatible-same for the sennheisers). They didn't have 3rd party replacements for earpads (dekoni or brainwaves at least) the last time I checked. They aren't heavy on bass but they have an incredible soundstage, exceptional for competitive games, especially hearing footsteps.
The Sennheiser HD6XX sound awful to my ears. Dull and boring.
The Sennheiser HD600 sound AMAZING to my ears. Outperforming any other dynamic driver headphone for the price. And, when you connect HD600 to expensive amplifiers and tube amplifiers they can scale to new heights.

As for amp, do you have one you like or recommend to drive the HD600s?
