TracFone will provide an unlocking code or codes to customers who request unlocking, provided the cellphones meet the following conditions:
* The cellphone must be in working condition.
* The cellphone has not been reported stolen or lost, and there are no indicators of fraud.
* For cellphones activated with TracFone prior to November 23, 2021 on any carrier network, the cellphone must have been active with TracFone Service for no fewer than twelve (12) months.
* For cellphones activated with TracFone on the T-Mobile or AT&T networks on or after November 23, 2021, the cellphone must have been active with TracFone Service for no fewer than twelve (12) months.
* For cellphones activated with new service on the Verizon network on or after November 23, 2021, at least sixty (60) days must have elapsed since the cellphone was activated. For any active cellphones, notification of the phone's unlock eligibility will be sent via SMS along with a link to the website where the unlock process can be accessed.

Other catch is sometimes 5g phones are a little more. The same sale as this one has some 5g phones for $10 more but they sold out for some people wanted it more than me I guess. (Then again I got a similar deal in Labor day a few months ago, so that is fair I guess)

After you do all that in 60 days they send you a text message saying the phone is now available to be unlocked with instructions, follow the instructions which includes you giving them your email, they email you two codes, and you type the codes into the phone, reboot, and then go into settings after the reboot to see if the process was successful for the unlock. If the unlock was successful you can remove the sim but do not remove the sim if you have not unlocked the phone.
Then you can use any brand of sim in the phone.

Apple phones with tracfone, verizon, straight-talk and other services verizon own has less steps, they more or less unlock automatically, no e-mail and typing in codes needed.
