Not necessary. I no longer buy from Amazon after what was supposed to be genuine OEM clogged up the filtering system and I had to replace the whole thing. I only buy from Samsung now. It's not worth saving a few bucks for something that water that you drink goes through.
I heard some horror stories like this before from Amazon. I usually buy at Best Buy or Samsung directly....its water, a fridge and your health, best not to F around.

Just go to Home Depot and get a inline filter with a hose to cut in and attach to the water line. cost 30-40 and will last at least 5 years.

Costco doesn't sell this model. They sell another model compatible with the older Samsung fridges where the ice maker is in the freezer (terrible design and problems)

I just got the new Samsung Bespoke fridge which takes the filters in OPs post.
Not totally true. They don't currently sell this model but have sold the qin model (I just bought it for my 4 door flex a couple months ago). You can even search for past threads (ex https://slickdeals.net/share/android_app/fp/778780). I noticed Costco likes to pull pages when things go oos.

How can an inline filter last 5 years? Isnt it by use per gallon use?
