Do you happen to know if the battery going bad causes the unit to stop working? I had one maybe 15 years ago which worked that way. I get that they need to make sure the user knows it's bad, but that seems so dumb it's almost intentional (to generate revenue.). I don't think I ever used the battery open function, and the door only ever failed due to a dead battery!
I have 2 garage doors and don't want to set myself up for $100 of batteries every 5 years. I can still manually open the door if needed and expect to be able to do so for a couple more decades!

I want to follow your advice and agree. But I'm from Ohio and the Genie is made in Ohio and can't find where chamberlain is made. I'm being stubborn, I know
