I just confirmed my order from last year on 12/28. It was split into two orders:
1. Turbo Tax Deluxe + State 2022: $34.98
2. Gift Card: $10.00
Total was $44.98
This year's total for Turbo Tax Deluxe + State 2023 with Gift Card is $35.99 + $9.99 = $45.98
All figures are before tax.
Pretty clear to me that this is on par with 12/28 last year. I think a lot of people are forgetting to add in the gift card, which shows up as a separate order.
Not worth the headache. Remember, Turbotax transfers your stock and capital gains losses from year to year. I made that mistake one year and it completely lost $25k of stock losses carried over from previous years. Good thing I caught it and corrected it the following year. But the IRS could have easily noted the discontinuity and flagged my return for an audit.
You should amend your returns my friend ( can go three years in the past ) cleanest and best way to do it
I bought it at this time last year to do some tax planning. It was worthless until the updates were added this year. In most instances, I would get something to the effect of "this section is not available until a later date."
So I'm holding out for a better deal when the product actually will do something...
Exactly what I was thinking , most forms available after Jan 6

You can amend any year. You just can't get any refund owed for that year's taxes. Still might be worth it to fix a continuity mistake that doesn't affect the bottom line that year.

Does anyone know what the difference (if any) there is between the download version and the web version? I've always just used TurboTax online. Is this the same thing?

I thought about doing that but why call attention to the tax return right? Both were approved, so why risk another pass through the IRS filters? So many gray area issues where they could flag it for an audit.
Then you shouldn't be doing it if you don't know what your doing
That's a ridiculous comment. I know how to do taxes - is it wrong to hate doing it? Plenty of people are good at doing stuff they hate doing. They do it because 1) they have to or 2) they want the control of knowing it is done right.
You need to have an online account and be logged in when you install and enter your license key. This links your account to your software. It also provides a download link if you need to install it again, but you will need to be logged into your account.
I read the license info on the TurboTax site, and it says your license provides 5 free federal e-files. You have to pay for state e-files. If also mentions you have unlimited file by printing and mailing. It doesn't mention what happens if you need a 6th e-file, if you could just pay a fee or not, but you can mail it.
I've always done that with my state filing. E-file federal for free, and print and mail the state.
Is e-filing the extension considered as one of the 5 e-filings?
