ChatGPT 3.5 is free and accomplishes a great deal of the same functionality for anyone looking at this type of product.

"great deal of the same functionality". That's not completely true. Chatgpt doesn't integrate directly with your apps to correct errors as you type. For many that alone is worth the 70 dollars a year

Thank you.
Worth every penny. Been using it for a while and it has improved my writing skills tremendously.

Who would be the target user for this software?
Seems like overkill unless you are a researcher or novelist.

How long until Microsoft integrates chatgpt into Word?
They have already introduced Copilot.
There is also a Microsoft Word addin called Ghostwriter.

As a PS. Grammarly is basing Grammarly Go on GPT-3, so they are basically betting their future on a service that is already being provided for free (or close to free)

Thank you OP. Renewed at 50%. I wouldn't have paid 144 so this is the sweet spot for renewal.

The free edition is very good, how much better is the paid version over the free version?
Totally depends on your writing ability — if you're a strong writer, you'd probably hate it. I hate premium, the 'corrections' usually are worse than what I'd had written and it makes suggestions that change the meaning of what you wrote.

If you're not a "writer", it's awesome and will help you become a better writer. Remarkable product, you basically get an average to above average proofreader/editor for cheap compared to the $$ you'd pay otherwise.

So this product is for people who would fail 8th grade if they had to repeat it (and the teachers didn't have to pass everyone for their school's rating to be adequate)?

Isn't it better to get a monthly subscription that can be canceled at any time? Like in summer when there is a break from class.

You can use it in a browser. No installation is needed.

Yes. It includes all the plug-ins.
Have they improved the Word and especially the Outlook plugins? I had a subscription last year, but they didn't fix the Outlook plugin the entire time I had it and it worked about 50% of the time, showing a count of issues but no detail of the issues.

When I un-installed it all, I found that Office itself had improved a lot in its grammar checking and couldn't see any reason to keep a subscription.

I disagree. I use ChatGPT 4.0 and the grammar on it can be dicey. I usually have to chuck ChatGPT outputs into Grammarly to correct

Totally. I used to be a heavy user of Grammarly for the last five years. This year after the LLMs I've stopped using it at all. I don't believe the product will see another two years unless they come up with some innovation I'm not envisioning.

I pay $20/month for ChatGPT4 and still pay $144/year for Grammarly. I find it to be significantly different in that it integrates seamlessly within my workflows, helps me shift tone and clarity, with suggestions and interactive prompts, etc. It's much more effective.
