Noob question. I have a current subscription through Amazon that ends next week. I'm assuming I can just cancel that renewal and buy this, and it stacks on my current subscription, is that correct?

When adding the code to an existing plan, does anyone know if I should turn off auto renew so that when entering the code, it will change to auto renew and add the extra three months?

I'm in the same exact boat as you. I did some research a month or 2 ago and apparently that's how you do it. Disable auto renew and let the subscription lapse. You should go into a holding period but you have to remember to activate your new subscription within the amount of time before they clear your account (I think it's 30 days, maybe 45 days?). Once you're in that period, you should be able to activate the license again via your new Newegg one as you would normally directly in Microsoft's interface... forever being rid of the ridiculous Amazon based one.

I'm never doing it through Amazon again, what a scummy hassle with too much room for error/losing your data.

You have to hold on to the code until your Amazon subscription runs out (turn off auto renew).

My current subscription had one year left. It added 15 months to my subscription.

I believe you are allowed to stack up to 5 years.
