Bought this for a birthday present last month and it was $99 so I guess they marked the price up to put it on sale

Are you sure it's the same model? Because it looks like everywhere else is at least $179 and doesn't look like Amazon dropped much over the past two years either.

Hmm very tempting. I've been thinking about learning how to play by myself.

Are pianos difficult to learn?

Casio CT S1 is also very nice, if you want to get something more maturer.

As an adult, only thing stopping you is time and disciplined practice --- expect to put in 1 year before getting any thing sounding good if learning by yourself (results may vary) ---- Get an adult piano book, go page by page (don't skim) ... and after 1 year, you will be impressed with yourself. I would get the CTS 1 if unless you can pay more and get the bundle from costco for 500

Thanks for the advice!

Any recommendations on learning resources?

You can find it used on halfprice books sometimes for like $10, this is all you need to get started, and if you will like piano or not . There are videos on youtube that go through all the songs and even this entire course, so you can hear it to know if you are playing it right etc.

I haven't seen any recently, when I bought it from adoroma, it was 270 which included the bench, stand, sustain pedal and headphones

Probably depends on what you mean by "learn."

If you have tunes in your head that you want to hear with your ears and you are musically inclined, the "low to high" format might be fairly easy for you to adapt to.

If you intend on playing by reading music, I'd equate that to natively knowing English, then translating Latin on a court reporter with your foot.

Might just depend on how you roll.
