I have an Am Ultra and Am Pro II. Both are fantastic guitars. If you are a Fender person, I would highly recommend the Am Ultra. Some don't care for the Noiseless Gen4 pickups, but for my style, they work well.

The Ultra is already sold out… still, lots of good deals on guitars this holiday season.

They have a bunch more Ultra Strats on their website, updated the post to reflect those as well

EDIT: It's like these guitars keep popping up out of nowhere, I'll stop updating it for now...

Oh man that dark night maple is so sexy!! I'd like one of those in HSS config to go with my Miami Blue SSS Am Pro II I just got. One day…

Been drooling over that Fender American Performer Telecaster on the Miami Guitars website all day. It finally sold. It was $805 ($909 on Reverb but $805 directly on their site)... wow. $805 for a new American-made Fender.

Other than the pickups, what are the differences between the ultra and proii?

The shape of the neck heel (where the neck attaches to the body) is different. The American Pro II has the rounded heel, but on the ultra it's slanted inwards, too, so it sticks out very little.

The Ultra also has that push-push switch on the top volume knob.

Edit: I know the Ultra has locking tuners. I don't think the AmProII does. The additional contour around the neck area is pretty nice.

These are great deals on a NEW Ultra's and Pro II's at used pricing. Personally, I wouldn't balk on the Ultra because of the noiseless G4's at all. They're 'good' but might not be exactly what someone wants (or could be exactly what they DO want). And swapping on a Strat is a pretty easy task, with or without a pre-populated pickguard approach.

Both are great guitars. Having played both, I would say that the NECK may be the biggest factor in choosing between the two. They are distinct from one another and is the reason I picked up a gently used Ultra a while ago, playing it back and forth vs. an Am Pro II. Granted, the Elite I bought had an ebony fingerboard, but that aside you're looking at two different neck profiles and two different fret types.

The Ultra will be a 10"-14" compound radius D-shape while the Am Pro II is a straight 9.5" radius C-shape. The Ultra will have Med Jumbo frets, the Am Pro II will have Tall Narrow. For me personally, the frets were the biggest difference. I own a 9.5" Am Std Tele I love... the neck is great, but the frets are Med Jumbo which I prefer over others I've played and is consistent with the other guitars I own. I had one other Tall Narrow fretted guitar I sold, the frets being a factor in why I got rid of it.

YMMV - Some people love and prefer the Tall Narrow over Med Jumbos. And, again, I think the neck radius and shape are notably different, but both very comfortable to play in their own rights. The frets, to me, made the bigger different and short of swapping an entire neck, doing a refret isn't something I'd casually do myself, unlike a pickup swap.

Sweet merciful purgatory… very glad they were thin on telecaster deals because I would have been out a solid chunk of Holiday change.
Amazing prices for those that found something they liked!

Aw if I hadn't scored a lefty American ultra lefty in September at $1409 from Adriana, I would be all over this deal on the Texas tea

I've been shopping for a used Ultra for a few months now but couldn't resist this deal. Bought the Mocha one. It's a little more than I was planning on spending used but for a new one.

I was just at the Fender Flagship store in Tokyo and played a bunch of special Japanese strats + a few American strats and for me the Ultra was the best playing one, the one the felt most right to me. Tried really hard to like some really cool looking signature strats there but again, the American Ultra was just perfect for me.

Great deal. Thanks for sharing!
