I got that intense bike right when intense did the Costco deal. That carbon trail model is a solid allmountain bike, in fact it's the intense Primer frame with a different paint job and slightly with less premium components. Comparable to the components of the YT Jeffsey core 2. I have run it at Snow Summit, sky Park, all around San Diego and Orange County and it is built very well front brake disc is a little small but the TRP's are solid. These polygons are intriguing and definitely a pretty good deal but that Intense 951 Costco deal is hard to beat, still two years later.
And weren't those Costco Intense bikes (XC/Sniper and trail/Primer) both in the $3200-$3300 range at one time? They're quite a bit cheaper now.

Pretty shrewd way to potentially sell a hell of a lot of bikes. Intense isn't (and never will be) as big as Trek or Specialized with regard to sales volume, so I bet the Costco models they sell really help pay their bills.

Most bike frames are made in one of several factories. It's about the components and the geometry.

I'd never had a Polygon nor ridden one. However, I have had several no name bikes ( Ibex and Motobecane) and they were just a solid as my "name brand" bikes. ( Santa Cruz, Intense, Diamondback)

I was about to buy one a few years ago, but decided I didn't ride enough to rationalize a 2k purchase.

Guess what I'm trying to say is that it will be just as good, but you won't have a "name brand"

You aren't going to get a better deal than this T8. Solid components, modern geo... Just a solid deal overall.

They(intense) were in the $3300 range at Costco.

I see the 951xc is currently $2800.

Awhile back they had it for $3300ish with $500 rebate.

Looks like that is the new price. If they ever run that bike for $2800 with $500 off that would be a fantastic buy.

Do they come with gyroscopes? How do they stand up in the middle of the trail by themselves?

Is this a joke? If you're not buying a $1800 mountain bike because of $100 shipping, then you aren't really in the market for an $1800 mountain bike.

For $1800, the T8 is a good deal and has components you won't be in a hurry to upgrade.

But at the $2500 pricepoint, I'd steer clear of the Colossus N9 and look at the Intense carbon-framed bikes on Costco's site. A few bucks more but a quality carbon frame and still pretty good components. Plus, Intense has been around a long time and knows mountain bikes. Or even go to YT's site. You can get an alu-framed Jeffsy or Capra for a similar price and those are very popular mountain bikes.
The Colossus and Intense are very different bikes, honestly most people in this thread probably shouldn't even be buying the Colossus. If you're looking for a 170mm trail enduro on Slickdeals, you probably are looking in the wrong place. LMAO

Polygons are a well known direct to consumer brand. People understand they are 'budget' bikes, but well regarded. Honestly, the Big 3 (Specialized, Giant, Trek) don't even have the same stature they once had.

That fork alone has a regular MSRP of almost $1k.

anyone think it's better to get a T7 and do a couple upgrades (tires, ??), or is it better to just get the T8 without any upgrades? 2k budget...

The T8 at $2,000 is still a steal. The only better deal's I've seen are the Vitus Mythique which was hit or miss. The rest of the deals on bikes now seem to be higher priced, $2500 and up. That being said, plenty of people love the T7 but the T8 is a big jump in specs. You can't upgrade for cheaper.
