Can someone suggest the best printer for home use?
Should we go for laser or inkjet or ink tank for long-term (let's say 3 years) price/per/print?
And recommendations if possible because I am newbie in this realm

Understand, I'm no techie, to say the least. There are numerous people here on SD who would make me seem like I am among the dumbest SOBs on the planet. Still, my 2-cents is to go with a monochrome laser unit. If you print a lot, the per price cost will be in its favor, I'd say, and if you don't then you run the small risk of the ink jet cartridges drying out (although such never happened to me). I've had both Brother & Canon laser machines, and I prefer Canon, however, I suspect I'd probably be among the minority here on SD. Whichever you choose, be sure to check, say, Amazon, to see if generic toners are available at a cheap price as the brand name, be it Canon or Brother, will apt to cost a multiple of the others. Hope this helps and also hope somebody else will chime in, so you can benefit further perhaps.

I was in the same boat. I don't think $129.99 is a good deal so I ended up getting a brand-new one for $159.99.

Canon seems to not update their drivers, so if you are use window os pre win11 you may have a big paper weight in a few years. Sold on brother. Best bang for buck, good support (you don't have to pay for it after warranty expires), good with cheaper generic toners from Amazon, I have the HL L2395 DW for 3 years now, and never looked back.

To each his own. Since the '80s, never had a problem to amount to much w/ Canon whereas my one Brother machine quit feeding paper in, I believe, less than 2 years (despite cleaning rollers multiple times as seen on YouTube). Nothing against Brother as I may try them again, although I do prefer Canon.

I have a similar Brother MFC (not the value version) for 10 years and it works like a charm. It's laser, so the ink doesn't dry out and it has no issue with third party toner. Some Canons do. While I am by no means an expert, if I ever replace it, it will be with another Brother. In fact I've considered replacing it to get AirPrint (my old one does have an app but it's hit or miss) but this thing is such a workhorse I can't justify it.
