Ordered two sets from Amazon and both boxes arrived ripped, beat up and bulging in the centers. Opened them up and there were sockets and broken tray fragments all over the place. 5 out of 6 trays were broken and I was missing two sockets in one set and 4 sockets and an extension in the other. I would make one good set and return the other, but they trays are unusable.

If I have a tool chest / drawers... do I need to buy this box /toolbox with it? I mean, most of these dewalt kits now are in clamshell cases.

LMK if it's worth getting or if I will be annoyed it's not in a clamshell kit.

you don't you have to. you can just throw it in your chest/drawers. if you want buy box, then you need buy toughsystem 1.0 boxes.

So...get tHis set with just the plastic things it comes in. OR this deal , which someone previously said was the best bang (not much filler stuff but good components)?

For $67 its' gteat but no case or toolbox (but I don't have a tool box to carry, just my metal craftsman tool box with 4 drawer)

Mind you , Not a mechanic or anything crazy. Just a homeonwer to occasionally DIY some stuff but I hate buying crappy tools (but I don't need like commercial grade either! )

I am going to return my 192 to HD and switch to this since this set can fit perfectly in my tool chest. instead of laying around my tool chest.
I'm doing same. It's a good savings since I already have most/all the odd items needed top equivocate the differences between the 226- and 192-piece sets. I'd rather have trays I can place in my tool chest than the 192's blow-molded case for my particular use model.

Give Dewalt a call. very easy replacement. I replaced a few Dewalt hand tools 2-3 months ago. all I did was just give them a call and with 2-3 weeks those are delivered to my front door.

From my earlier post:

Socket wise this set is a little less than the 192 and depending on your usage you might need to invest a little bit more money to make this set more complete

here is the difference I saw
1/4 deep sockets This set skips 5/32 while 192 set skips 7/32
3/8 deep sockets This set skips 10 11 12 (There is 10 11 12 in 1/4 deep socket anyway so no real skip in size there)

Seems like details are mixed based on my scrolling/reading. But does the the eBay kit come with at least the plastic trays? I just need this for my toolbox at home.
