Why in the world is this laptop only 1080p? These specs are great but that screen sounds very disappointing.

I have been an MSI loyalist for laptops since around 2010. But I've only had 3 in that time, and my last one (still my daily) was the 2019 stealth.

I always found them to be a great value, well built, and reasonably priced for the specs. I also appreciate the upgradability, customization options, and customer service.

But I've seen a LOT of negativity towards the brand lately and I have to assume they've gone down hill in recent years. Too much bad blood to be a few outlier experiences.

Which is sad because when I eventually do have to upgrade my laptop, which will probably be within the next year, I'll now have to do a ton of research.

That said, my experience with their laptops in the past has been overwhelmingly positive. Can't speak to models in the last few years.

I have this very same laptop. I bought it as a portable desktop replacement. I use an external monitor, and it's great!

The screen is really the only negative to this laptop, which will be big to a lot if people. It's easy to upgrade, up to 64gb of RAM and 2 m.2 slots. The bottom screws off fairly easily.

This or Asus ROG M16 for $1500? Better display but lesser RAM for 300 more.

Does the FHD Display matter if you are always going to have it plugged into a monitor? Hinges aren't a big deal if I am keeping the lid shut

I'm looking at laptops and have owned an MSI laptop. I didn't have any issues with it.

This deal got my attention and newegg as a little different version for the same price.

I believe the extra ram and storage is worth more than than the I7 vs I9.

I agree that the resolution is a down side if you relying on it.

I have the 15" and use it with a monitor. Rarely move it, rarely open and close it. Hinge ripped off one side under its own weight. The plastic in the chassis is the cheapest plastic I've seen on a laptop. I'd say it's potentially viable as a desktop replacement but it is not a real laptop that can be moved around.

It depends on which one you get.

I have a GE75 Raider (top gaming model) and I'm very pleased with it. On the better gaming models, MSI was/is very good about squeezing as much performance as possible out of the hardware, and the build, spec, and price were good. Seems like this year, every thing that gets semi-reasonable in price has a crap display and a power limited GPU. This one has a 105W TGP, which means the GPU will be running 80-90W when the CPU works.

Hard pass, IMO.
