Will this unlock automatically after 60 days after activating with an active Verizon sim? Or will I need to call or chat to request the unlock.
It will unlock automatically after 60 days. No need to call or request anything.

Put the inactive RP sim card in the sim card slot. Power up your phone, connect to wifi. Wait for the phone to activate. Then you can go through the usual phone setup and confirm that the phone is sim locked under general -> about. Next go to att.com/deviceunlock. Start device unlock. Do you have att phone number? No. Type in your phone's IMEI (do NOT put IMEI 2, this is esim) then fill out your info on next page and submit. You will receive one email from at&t right away to confirm your request. Click to confirm and the second email should come soon with confirming the device is now unlocked. At this point, take out RP sim card and put a sim card for T-Mobile or Verizon (or any of their MVNOs) in the phone. Restart the device and it is now unlocked.
Thanks . Will this process work with h2o sim too ?

Short answer: Yes. Long answer:The US flex reseller policy requires activation on one of the US big 3 wireless providers. After activation with one of US big three providers (and subsequent unlocking of the phone) the phone can be used with any US/international carrier.
Thanks a lot for the reply!

Anyone know what will be unlocking policy for the T-Mobile for the US Reseller Flex Policy phone? Is it same as Verizon(60days)? Also, does this work with T-Mobile SIM? I don't mind using service for 2 months since I am just gonna switch my current T-Mobile SIM and using it.

From what I know, I dont think this will work. I have seen this being asked in the past repeatedly and folks have tried this, and have not been successful.. Kindly do more research on this. Read previous postings and corresponding post and make an informed decision!

I dont think you can unlock unless you pay the phone off, which beats the purpose of having this offer in the first place...

I was told by the cell phone employee in the target closest to me that they would not sell the phone at 50% off without adding it to an ATT account. Who can explain what to say to the cell phone rep in a succinct clear fashion what is necessary to get them to sell this phone without activating it on the spot?

Tell them it's a national promotion and that you know those that have bought it at other Target stores. Then ask them politely to scan it.

Yes, any AT&T MVNO sim will work for this, including H2o.

Not much info on T-Mobile unlock procedure since most people just use AT&T trick to unlock right away. Feel free to proceed with T-Mobile activation and report back here, but be prepared that the phone will be locked to T-Mobile with no easy (or fast) way to unlock it for use with other carriers.

Tried to unlock with the mint sim card. Inserted before I started phone. I setup the phone and then went to website att.com/deviceunlock. I received following email. Any idea how to get around that?

Current status - Denied
We can't unlock this device because it's not compatible with the AT&T network.

If you think you entered the wrong device IMEI number, check by dialing *#06#, or look under the device settings, then submit a new unlock request.

Mint is T-Mobile MVNO, so your phone is locked to T-mobile and you have to reach out to T-Mobile to unlock, not AT&T.
